The Flourishing Center is emerging as a leading provider of positive psychology experiences, including the Certification in Applied Positive Psychology program, which launched in 2013.
The program targets change-agents working in varying disciplines and sectors; this diversity creates a rich learning laboratory. The pioneering cohorts convene in New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Boston.
They are currently looking for participants to come join a cohort with access, then, to a beautiful array of aggregated research to use in their work around the world.
The research is organized around Martin Seligman‘s PERMA theory (Positive emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, and Achievement) with an added component of physical vitality that our co-founder, Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, MAPP, CPC, ERYT researches in her doctoral work.
The Flourishing Center (TFC) continues its Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) program, a 6-month journey into the science of wellbeing and flourishing with programs in NYC (January 2015), San Francisco (March 2015) and Philadelphia (March 2015). There is an executive education model which allows participants to travel from around the world.
What is the program about?
The program combines cutting-edge research in cognitive neuroscience, mindfulness, contemplative studies, and mind-body medicine with practical application tools for personal and professional contexts.
CAPP draws a unique and diverse cohort of students from around the world: educators, wellness and fitness coaches, entrepreneurs, business consultants, HR, trainers and OD professionals, everyday citizens and more.
Prerequisites for taking this course
Since 2012, nearly one hundred students have earned a Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) by attending one weekend-long onsite per month, participating in distance learning classes, a final project to demonstrate a personal or professional application of positive psychology. There is no prerequisite other than a deep desire for learning about the science of human nature and behavior.
The program is founded by Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, MAPP, PCC, ERYT and Louis Alloro, M.Ed., MAPP, two graduates of Martin Seligman’s Master of Applied Positive Psychology (MAPP) program, the first of its kind, at the University of Pennsylvania. They have aggregated the material in a user-friendly way that leaves participants with the tools and resources to be more effective change-agents in the world.
