“The best way to capture moments is to pay attention. This is how we cultivate mindfulness. Mindfulness means being awake. It means knowing what you are doing.” – Jon Kabat-Zinn,
Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D., is an internationally known scientist, writer, and meditation teacher. He is especially known for bringing his work in meditation practices, particularly Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), into mainstream medicine, psychology, and society.

Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Work on Meditation
Jan Kabat-Zinn has published numerous books and scientific papers on mindfulness in medicine and healthcare. Between 1979 till 2002, Kabat-Zinn’s research focused on the interaction of mind and body towards health.
His research concentrated on the effects of Mindfulness-Based Reduction (MBSR) on the brain processing emotions under stress and the immune system. Mindfulness meditation training was conducted in clinical applications on people with chronic pain and/or stress-related disorders; participants varying from breast cancer patients and prostate cancer patients, multicultural settings, prison inmates and staff, and stressful corporate and work environments.
Dr. Kabat-Zinn has released a program in three series on guided mindfulness meditation practice CD‘s that were developed for his MBSR classes in the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, or those who have taken other MBSR programs, or who have read his books.
It is not necessary to take an MBSR program to obtain the benefits of the series but it is suggested to use the series with Dr. Kabat-Zinn’s books (series 1: Full catastrophe living (revised edition): using the wisdom of your body and mind to face stress, pain, and illness; series 2: Wherever you go, there you are: Mindfulness meditation in everyday life; series 3: Coming to our senses: Healing ourselves and the world through mindfulness). The aim of the program is to help individuals develop and deepen their personal mindfulness meditation skills and letting go of cultural traps and lifestyles that most Westerners have difficulty letting go. The program provides an opportunity to reach clarity, wisdom, stillness, and compassion.
